Image Creatives for Google & Meta Ads
RankPower may require you to provide the following image sizes, depending on the campaign type.
You will be advised which assets are needed to support your campaigns – refer to the Type numbers below.
Please take note of the Details* for each platform before beginning to produce your creatives. We recommend that you provide us with a draft concept of your creative prior to completing the design work. This is to ensure that your final work does not contain any elements that we may identify as potentially having a negative effect on campaign performance.
*We will do our best to keep these up to date, however platform requirements change from time to time and they will typically not inform us of those changes.
Images for Google Ads pMax Campaigns.
Creative Type 1 for Image Extensions and Dynamic Display.
pMax is mostly used for Shopping campaigns, however they may also be used for leveraging Google’s AI engine to automate ads across all of Google’s properties, Search, YouTube, Gmail and the Display Network.
- 1:1 ratio Square (at least 2, but no more than 7 different images)

- Total of 20 images needed.
- These images must be clear, quality photographic images. No artwork.
- Recommended minimum short-side dimension at 1080 pixels. Please use our templates below.
- Images must not include logos, text, or any design overlay
Images for Google Ads Search Campaigns.
Creative Type 2 for Search – Image Ad Extensions.
Google Ads for Search feature this ad extension. It allows use of an image next to the search result. While these are only shown under certain circumstances, it’s useful to have this extension enabled to take advantage of the greater search visibility. There is no guarantee that Google uses any of your images.

Images for Google Display Network.
Creative Type 3 for Google Dynamic Display.
These images form the basis of the AI-powered dynamic design creatives for the Google Display Network, and accompany any text content provided. In some instances, Google may convert a combination of your images into a Video. Images are subject to cropping, blurring, background, movement, etc, so design work and overlaid text are not allowed.

Creative Images for META platforms.
Creative Type 4 for Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.
To be fully compatible with all Meta Platform placements, provide all of the requested sizes. These may show in all shapes and sizes of placement.

- 1.91:1 ratio Horizontal (at least 1 per Campaign Offer)
- 9:16 ratio Vertical (at least 1 per Campaign Offer)

- Image type: JPG or PNG without transparency.
- File size limit 5MB.
- We recommend that 1 image is needed in all 3 of the formats above, by limiting to just 1:1 format Facebook may crop or modify the format to suit, which may be detrimental to the message in the creative.
- To ensure consistency in messaging, each set of images per format should be the same design and content.
- Limit any text to covering no more that 20% of the image space, unless absolutely necessary.
- Designs must be legible and easily identifiable, even if shown at small sizes. If this isn’t possible, then provide alternative designs for small size rendering.
Creative Images for Google Display Network.
Creative Type 5 for GDN Media Placements.
- 250×300 pixels (at least 1 per Campaign Offer)
- 160×600 pixels (at least 1 per Campaign Offer)
- 300×600 pixels (at least 1 per Campaign Offer)
- 728×90 pixels (at least 1 per Campaign Offer)
- Optional: there are other sizes that you may use. Please discuss this with us if considering any other size.
The images below are the full size files for each creative. Right-click to download the template.
Details:
- Formats allowed are JPG, PNG, or GIF for static images, Animated GIF, AMPHTML or HTML5* for animated images. Refer to this article for the pros and cons of each format.
- Max file size is 150kb. This is strictly enforced.
- Pixel dimensions are strictly enforced.
- At least 1 image is needed in all 4 of the sizes above.
- To ensure consistency in messaging, each set of images per format should be the same design and content, just re-arranged to fit within the given layout.
- Designs must be legible and easily identifiable at each size. If designing at a larger size, please view your design at the sizes we have given to ensure it displays as expected.
- Provide your final creative in the exact specifications as any variation will not be accepted.
*HTML5 is only permitted on accounts with a spend history exceeding $15,000 NZD (USD$9,000), and with the account in good financial standing (according to Google).
