The Rise of AI for Marketing.

In this article, we take a look at the ‘sales pitch’ provided by an AI Digital Marketing platform currently under development.

Here’s what they say are the problems with traditional marketing agencies:

High Costs & Budget Constraints.

Traditional marketing agencies charge premium rates for services that AI-driven platforms can now automate. Businesses often spend thousands of dollars monthly on retainers, consultancy fees, and performance-based commissions. These expenses create a financial burden, especially for startups and small businesses that require cost-effective solutions.

We won’t apologise for charging our retainer. We’ll make sure that it fits well within your ability to cover those sorts of costs, or we won’t take the job. Our clients’ success is our first consideration when taking any new job and the first question we always ask is: how can we make this profitable for you.

When it comes to performance based commissions, think about that for a moment.

Lack of Transparency

Agencies often operate with opaque pricing models and performance metrics, making it difficult for businesses to understand where their marketing budget is being allocated. Many agencies do not provide real-time data access, leaving clients in the dark about campaign progress and ROI.

We’re the polar opposite. On principle.

We explain exactly what our costs are, what is spent on specific campaigns, and what ROI is being driven from them. We also provide real-time access to data, dashboarding, and marketing platforms. We even ensure you have full ownership of everything that we set up for you: datasets, accounts, platforms, historical performance, edits, and insights.

It means that if you wanted to ‘lift and shift’ to another agency, it’s easy, because it’s all yours. But we’re actually that confident you wont want to.

Slow Turnaround Times

Marketing campaigns require speed and agility, but agencies often have slow approval processes, multiple layers of communication, and bureaucratic decision-making structures. This delays content production, ad optimizations, and campaign adjustments, leading to missed opportunities.

We are proactive because we are always hunting for your growth and success. It sets us aside from many agencies.

This is also why we demand the highest possible level of expertise of our team. Our clients are paired up with someone at RankPower who can make decisions and take action autonomously and immediately. It’s actually a hiring challenge for us, because we set the bar high, demanding premium and diverse skillsets. That’s our problem, not yours.

In most cases, we can act on a new campaign request within 1 working day of when we receive it. Most of our clients would report that our response to their requests are immediate. It’s like doing your homework as soon as you get it, so you can relax and watch TV knowing the job is done.

But most of the time, you’ll find us telling you what ought to get done next, not the other way around.

One-Size-Fits-All Approach

Many agencies use generic marketing strategies without tailoring solutions to specific industries, target audiences, or business needs. This results in ineffective campaigns that fail to resonate with the right audience.

Indeed, that’s a valid danger when hiring some agencies, but they’re actually easy to spot. You’ll get limited expertise from many of them and if they are cheap you probably also just get a cloned campaign from whatever they do for everyone else in your vertical. That’s not going to make you excel.

We believe that tailoring a solution to our client is mandatory. Expect it. While we might borrow ideas from other work we’ve done, nothing is copied or propagated ‘just because it’s easier’. We embrace the difficult, the new and the imaginative.

Dependence on Human Resources

Agencies rely heavily on human talent, which introduces the risk of errors, miscommunication, and inconsistent execution. AI-driven platforms eliminate these inefficiencies by automating repetitive tasks and optimising campaigns based on real-time data.

Our human talent is exceptional.

And one thing we’ve proven for certain (and what just about every Google Ads or META Ads account manager knows) is that ‘trusting the machine’ is a shortcut to wasting your clients’ money. Nobody wants that.

These marketing platforms already have advanced AI-powered modelling to determine what the ‘ideal next steps’ are for the ad account. While broadly, and in a massive market, those recommendations are generally OK, they are always biased toward driving only slightly above average performance.

Our clients demand better than that.

The machine can’t imagine being a high-performance outlier. That’s not the way they are built.

The Need for AI-Powered Marketing:

While we agree that some businesses would benefit from leveraging AI across the marketing efforts, those who are seeking exceptional performance need something better than the machine.

Specific flaws of AI marketing:

  • AI systems are tuned to set ‘progressively above average’ as their target performance point. An expert human knows how to jump straight to ‘exceptional’.
  • AI systems are still subject to ‘rubbish-in-rubbish-out’ factors. Inputs like Google Analytics or offline conversion data will have flaws. That’s almost guaranteed. As a great example, we regularly see that data from Google completely disagrees with data from Meta. The machine can only make flawed decisions from flawed inputs, whereas the human can adjust thinking based on previous experience of the data flaws.
  • AI can’t hunt for the invisible. If there’s some part of the bigger picture they can’t see or don’t have access to, then they can’t work as needed. Humans can discuss concepts and ideas that are not easily shaped into input data.
